Jean-Philippe was a history student when he made the acquaintance of a blacksmith, an encounter that inspired his decision to became a wrought-iron craftsman. His passion for the "red hot" material, fire and the anvil was born. For 20 years, and after much experimenting, the artist has displayed an unshakeable passion for his craft. He sets out to translate the creative violence of wrought-iron-working into the material by his interpretations of vegetation, especially patterns on tree bark. Behind his astute, penetrating eye, you can sense the strenght and depthof an inner freedom that let the artist free himself of the worries of everyday life. The forge is his domain, beauty his ideal, the quest for perfection his obsession. Accompanied by five journeymen, Jean-Philippe Fally embarked on a quest that led him to create monumental works based on vegetation. |

With support from Gérard Guerre gallery in Avignon and the Amy Perlin gallery in New-york, he has started making such wrought-iron items as almond and olive trees in the mistral, majestic oaks and lightning-struck trees. That road has put him on the road to sacred art: he has created choir furniture, as well made the 4,70 meter high, 3,50 meter wide Fountain Tree, which weighs approximately two tons and has more than 1200 leaves. |
